About the Artist

"I just can't seem to stop painting.  I've been doing this since about the age of 12.

I principally use oils and acrylics, sometimes mixed media, to create an atmosphere of time and place. I am especially interested in the play of light and shadow. Favorite subjects include the Southwest landscape, florals, animals, figures and evening light.

I  love that “happy circumstance” of finding just the right subject in just the right time of day. It’s always a learning experience. I hope the observer feels like they just came upon the subject themselves in a sudden revelation, a splash of color, of light, and that it affects them in a positive way."

Sandra has studied with a number of professional artists, including Rod Hubble, Stephen Quiller, Anne Templeton, and Kathy Walling. She lives with her husband and Shih Tzu, Otis, in New Mexico.  She has lived in the American Southwest for many years and is especially influenced by the beauty of the area and the quality of Southwestern light.

Shows include:  Fort Lewis College, San Juan College, locally.
Nationally:  Alpine Holiday Art Show in Ouray, Colorado and Gateway to Imagination national show in Farmington, NM.
